HTM and Marketing Double Major

The biggest advantage to having HTM as a double major is the incredible community it provides. I have very close relationships with my professors and peers, and the amount of support I receive from both is just incredible.

Having HTM as a double major has been incredible helpful during my job search for two reasons. First, it has doubled the opportunities provided and available to me, as I now have two skill sets (Marketing and HTM), and the second is that HTM Career Day helped me specifically find many companies that I would not have previously known about. This summer, I will be interning with Sonesta International in their corporate offices.

HTM will benefit me in my future desired career because it has helped me develop my my people skills and I am a far better leader and communicator for it. Having hospitality on a resume is a large intrigue for recruiters, as they know that students within the major excel with their soft skills and people skills.

Within my time as a UMass HTM student, the things that have helped me the most are participating in events where I am presenting and speaking to large audiences, and the opportunities that have been provided such as Career Day. Before my time in the HTM department, I would have never seen myself presenting to large audiences and speaking about my experiences, but the people are so supportive and have really prepared me for the real world.

My absolute favorite thing about the UMass HTM major is the relationships I’ve made and the experience that I have been able to partake in as a double major. As HTM is a smaller major, I have a much closer connection with my professors and peers. The HTM department has such a tremendous number of opportunities and I am so thankful to have been able to experience them.
