McCormack Anthem
Choosing the right program can make a significant difference in your career in the sport industry. Key attributes:
- Our affiliation with a top ranked business school – Isenberg School of Management
- Our faculty's wide range of interests and industry experiences
- Our emphasis on active, experiential learning
- Our close, diverse, and symbolic ties to the spectator sport industry and an online network of 3,000+ alumni
In most of our classes, the theory that applies to each discipline is supplemented by real-world projects providing students the ability to work in teams to solve "real world" challenges. Students will gain expertise in sport-related and business disciplines ranging from marketing, law and finance … to applied sport market research and business data analytics. One of the linchpins of our experiential-learning based curriculum is our annual “Octagon Bowl,” the culminating experience in Dr. Katz’s Sport Marketing class.
Our commitment to diversity is also found in the array of career interests we help foster. The field of sport management is thriving and there is a driving demand for sport business-related professionals. We bring top executives into the classroom and allow for students to consult with leading sport organizations. Having students exposed to careers in a wide range of industry segments not only adds to the class dynamic but also begins to build students' long-term networks.
Grad Mentors
Each year, over 30 alums – spanning the country as well as industry segments – volunteer their time, expertise and insights to help prepare the next class of alums for their careers in the sport industry. From monthly Skypes and shadowing days, to resume advice and job recommendations, each year the program results in the creation of lasting relationships that have become the hallmark of our alumni network.
Practicum Consulting Projects
Practicum projects are high-level, strategic consulting assignments that challenge students to think critically about a business area of importance and deliver managerial recommendations that address client objectives.
Students presented their mid-term deliverable and attend panel sessions at the USOPC’s 2020 Team USA Symposium in Colorado Springs.
