You may elect one course Pass/Fail per semester.
Courses taken for a Pass will not fulfill any major, minor, gen ed or certificate requirement.
Breadth electives may be taken for a Pass.
The faculty member will not know if you have chosen the pass/fail option. If the grade you earn in the course helps your GPA, the grade will appear on your transcript and will be calculated in the GPA. If you earn a passing grade that would not improve your GPA, a “P” will appear on your transcript and the grade is not calculated into the GPA. However, if you earn an “F” in a course elected as pass/fail, the “F” will be used in calculating your GPA and will appear on your transcript.
Electing pass/fail can be done in SPIRE before the pass/fail deadline. See the instructions on the Registrar's website.
If you have taken a course pass/fail and wish to use it towards university, college, or major requirements, follow the Registrar's instructions for revoking pass/fail via SPIRE.
Yes, but you must complete a Prior Approval Form. If you have completed 87 or more credits, you should fill out a Senior Year in Absentia Form instead. If the course you are taking fulfills a general education requirement, you need to get approval from Transfer Credit Services in the Registrar’s Office. If the course fulfills an Isenberg major or college requirement, you need to get approval from an Isenberg academic advisor. When you have completed the course(s), you need to have an official transcript sent to the Registrar's Office. You must earn a "C-" or better for a course to be transferred. Your grade will not be factored into your GPA, but will appear on your transcript. More information on transferring credit can be found here.
