The SRLA supports the sharing of information around the legal aspects of sport, and its members include scholars and practitioners. Its annual conference brings together researchers who present peer-reviewed scholarship in the field, and this year included panels on topics ranging from sports gambling to esports.
On Thursday morning, Masteralexis presented a paper on recent efforts to allow NCAA student athletes to earn money from their sport, entitled “They Finally Killed the Golden Goose. An Analysis of the Recent Legislative Responses Nationwide to the Income Inequality in NCAA Athletics.”
Friday evening, she was presented with the Betty van der Smissen Leadership Award, which goes each year to a person who embodies leadership and vision in the study of the legal aspects of sport and recreation.
