Kevin “K-Hops” Hopkins (MS ’12), has accepted the head men’s basketball coaching position at Muhlenberg College. Hopkins previously served as the Amherst College assistant coach under David Hixon

Kevin “K-Hops” Hopkins (MS ’12), has accepted the head men’s basketball coaching position at Muhlenberg College. 

Hopkins previously served as the Amherst College assistant coach under David Hixon for five seasons, guiding the newly named Mammoths to an outstanding 126-23 record. Hopkins has appeared in the DIII NCAA tournament an impressive nine times with Amherst College as a player and a coach, winning twice in 2007 and 2013.

Outside of college athletics, Hopkins was able to gain valuable experience in professional leagues. After his playing career, and before becoming an assistant coach at Amherst College, he played two years of professional ball in Germany for Oldenburg. In 2014, Hopkins served as a Coaching Coordinator for the Santa Cruz Warriors. That season, the Warriors were both the West Division Champions, and the NBA Development League Champions.

Hopkins received his Masters of Sport Management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Isenberg School of Management in 2012. “It’s always exciting to see our alumni move up, and achieve success within the industry” said Sport Management Department Chair, Janet Fink.
