Intern Feature: Skyla Johnson

I was an intern at Great Wolf Lodge New England. As an intern I spent time in each department of the hotel learning the major functions.

HOW DID YOU FIND THIS OPPORTUNITY?

When I was hired at Great Wolf Lodge last summer for a different position they had the idea of creating an internship program and I was happy to be the test rider!

WHAT HAS YOUR EXPERIENCE BEEN LIKE AND WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED?

I circled through all of the departments of Great Wolf Lodge and it helped me learn first-hand how each department comes together to make the whole hotel function as well as give me the experience and knowledge in all areas. I've learned so much about team work and communication while having so much fun every day! The experiences I've had also gave me the idea of which departments I would like to go into later on in life and which ones I wouldn't. 

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER STUDENTS?

Get out of your comfort zone and try a task or a role that you think you wouldn't enjoy. I never thought that I would like the housekeeping department, but with an open mind I tried it out and ended up loving it!!
