Intern Feature: Davonte Higginbottom

I am working for ISlideUSA a customizable slide company. I am doing Marketing and Operations for them. 

HOW DID YOU FIND THIS OPPORTUNITY?

I found this opportunity by attending and talking to them at the sport management career fair. 

WHAT HAS YOUR EXPERIENCE BEEN LIKE AND WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED?

My experience has been great, it is unlike any other internship because the culture of the company. I wear slides to work every day, it's an open office where I can interact with everyone daily including the CEO. They hold events to make it also a fun experience for the interns. But this all comes after putting hard work in. Also unlike many other internships I am actually doing work that affects the company directly. Seeing ideas I come up with being implemented and work I do positively affecting the company is the best part. 

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER STUDENTS?

I believe that's it's important to get an internship right away. You get turned down a lot being a freshman, but you will find something out there if you're resilient. You gain valuable experience that you can't get from a classroom and in the future it will help you stand out from your peers who didn't have internships freshman year, especially if you make the most of it.
