JP Morgan Chase in New York City as a summer analyst. My department is the Business Intelligence team; responsible for performing analysis on client related data to support KYC/Audit related requests. I work individually and with my team to source and streamline client related data with technology counterparts in order to provide enhancements to user databases.
How did you find this opportunity?
The summer analyst opportunity was posted on the UMass career services website in the fall semester.
What has your experience been like and what have you learned?
My experience has been positive as well as challenging. Relocating to New York City and working in the corporate world differs a lot from the familiar stomping grounds of UMass and Isenberg. This opportunity has allowed me to learn how to be a contributing member to a team. Additionally, it has taught me how diversity of thought is highly valued in the working world. Do not discount the value of teamwork because this is how you build your ideas and make them stronger.
What advice do you have for other students?
Take advantage of the opportunities that UMass Career Services and the Chase Career Center put on their career websites and keep up to date with the postings. Additionally, network with your peers because they will be with you at every step of your career. The UMass network is very strong and you should utilize it as much as possible.
