The annual Hospitality & Tourism Management (HTM) Career Day on March 2nd attracted 300 students Isenberg students and 68 companies. Dressed in their finest business attire, students attended the networking event with hopes of meeting potential employers and scheduling interviews with recruiters the next day.

Isenberg alumni and their companies were well-represented at the gathering. Just two hours into the event, for example, graduates representing The Ninety Nine Restaurant and Pub had scheduled interviews with seven students.

Seniors Laura Sullivan ’16 and Juliet Woodruff  ’16 were at Career Day to explore post-graduation job possibilities. Both are looking at UMass Auxiliary Enterprises, specifically the UMass Club in Boston. Auxiliary Enterprises also runs dining services on campus, conference services, and Hotel UMass.

“For graduating seniors, Auxiliary Enterprises is a great way to get their foot in the door at the university,” said UMass Hotel Manager Pat Howley. “It opens up a lot of different channels to other areas of the university that might not necessarily be AE.”

Sophomore Hospitality major Daniel Bernier ’18 was excited to meet with potential employers face to face. “I have connections with some companies that are here. So being able to walk up to them and hand them my resume face-to-face, not in an email, is why I wanted to come today,” he said.

Students had the chance to look over a roster of the companies before entering the auditorium. Marriott International, Mohegan Sun, AccorHotels, Chatham Bars Inn, and Not Your Average Joe’s were among the many companies that they explored.

By welcoming and encouraging both HTM and other Isenberg students to network and display their achievements and skills each year, HTM Career Day truly lives up to its motto: Infinite Pathways to Your Future.
