To ensure all social media accounts affiliated with Isenberg adhere to legal standards regarding image usage, we've created a quick-reference resource to help you stay compliant. This guide is designed to support departments, programs, and clubs in maintaining proper image usage practices.

For any questions or further guidance on image usage, please reach out to Lorraine Martinelle.

DO:

  • Use your own photos or images taken by your club or at Isenberg-affiliated events.
  • Use approved photos from the Isenberg MarCom Photo Drive.
  • Use copyright-free or Creative Commons images when necessary—but always check if attribution is required.
  • Credit photographers when the license requires it (or just to be respectful!).
  • Review licensing terms for platforms like Canva before using their elements or stock images.

DON’T:

  • Grab images from online without verifying the license or having permission.
  • Assume “found online” means free to use—many images are still protected by copyright.
  • Forget attribution when using Creative Commons or licensed images—it can lead to legal issues.
  • Crop, filter, or heavily edit licensed photos in ways that go against their usage rights.
  • Post identifiable images of individuals without their consent.
